dissemination of knowledge

Part of TransPOT's work will be to improve the perception and understanding of science and research by the public. To achieve this we will use the media, internet and Institution Open Days to make contact with the public on issues related to health, science and education. Additionally we will establish a committee on scientific integration with society (CoinC) to promote public awareness on major diseases. This committee will organize public lectures, press releases and serve as the first contact point with the public.

Further TransPOT information is also available on this website which contains general information about many aspects the project. In due course there will be a link to TransPOT technology platform-dervied databases from this site, to assist in the dissemination of knowledge. Details of international meetings and journal publications will also be available here and the TransPOT site will be linked to other relevant web pages, such as the web pages of FP6/7 research projects which faculty members also participate in and web pages of individual team members.

A TransPOT e-Newsletter will be distributed to all academic and research institutions in Greece and will be published every 6 months. This publication will feature research activities and achievements of the TransPOT Support Programme.

Results from TransPOT research will be published in major scientific journals and at international conferences. Additionally we will organise international scientific meetings on Advances in Translational Research with the aim of providing a forum which will bring together experts from an array of disciplines (molecular biologists, clinicians, bio-informaticians, tumour immunologists and pathologists) sharing a common interest in translational medical research.

Genomics Lab
The award of the TransPOT grant has allowed us to acquire a state-of-the-art laser capture microdissection system and a robotic real-time PCR system for mid and high-throughput analyses. Trained personnel funded by TransPOT ensure the professional use of this equipment and aids users to optimize their experiments when using the facilities.
GMP Cell Therapy Unit
The GMP cell processing unit consists of four positive air-pressure modular clean-rooms covering a total surface of 35m2 inside the main building of the Medical School.
